Character begins with the roof

The Mangalore tile roof and red metal frame give the terrace a clear visual identity. Openings within the roof admit daylight, while the supporting members create a repeated pattern overhead. Photographs from beneath the pergola make these relationships easy to see.

A chandelier becomes a focal point within the roof structure. It adds another scale of detail to the space: the larger frame defines the covered area, while the light fitting brings attention to the setting below. The roof is part of the terrace’s atmosphere as well as its enclosure.

A place to lounge and a place to dine

An L-shaped lounge occupies a corner beside the windows, making a defined place to settle in. Elsewhere, a round table and wicker chairs form a separate dining setting. Each arrangement has a recognisable purpose, while the pergola holds them within the same outdoor room.

This is one of the project’s most useful design ideas: furniture can distinguish activities without adding partitions. The different areas remain visually connected, allowing the terrace to work for a small conversation, a meal or a larger gathering.

The bar and the smaller details

A stone-faced counter introduces another material and another place to gather. A compact bench sits nearby, while plants and textured surfaces soften the edges of the setting. The Gallery includes closer views of these details as well as the full terrace.

The planted feature wall and its textured centre panel give the lounge a backdrop. Hanging planters and pots appear throughout the space, connecting the roof, walls and furniture with smaller touches of greenery. These elements add variety around the consistent frame and tile roof.

The terrace changes after sunset

Evening photographs show lighting beneath the counter and bench, with the chandelier and other roof lights contributing to the atmosphere. The layout stays the same, but the emphasis shifts towards the places where people sit and gather.

The Gallery includes daytime project photographs, evening views and a supplied enhanced overview. Taken together, they show a terrace designed for more than one moment in the day. Ritu’s project offers inspiration for anyone who wants a covered outdoor space with room to relax, share a meal and spend time together.
